What happened to the days when children could go outside and play until the street lights came on, and they were safe?  Remember when parents were not at home children could go next door and remain at the neighbors’ house until mom and dad came home?  And teachers…teachers were once thought of as second parents.  They exchanged embraces because they had a natural concern for their student’s emotional, scholastic and physical well-being.  Can anyone be trusted?  As adults are we not supposed to guarantee that children are happy and safe?  Here is something for you to contemplate – by the time you get to the end of this passage – another child will undoubtedly become a victim of child impropriety.  Get angry enough to get active.  Help end child abuse, today!  No more child abuse - we’ve had enough!

Child abuse is doing something or failing to do something that results in harm to a child or puts a child at risk of harm. Child abuse can be physical, sexual or emotional. Dereliction of duty, or not providing for a child's needs, is also a type of abuse.  Most exploited children suffer greater emotional damage than they do physical damage. An abused child may become depressed. He or she may withdraw, think of suicide or become violent. An older child may use drugs or alcohol, try to run away or abuse others.  Child abuse is a serious problem and we are here to help put an end to it!

Help prevent the tragedy of child abuse!

According to Canning Beat, 1989, abuse and neglect can lead to painful injuries and can lead to seious medical problems.  In severe cases of child abuse and neglect, the damage can lead to permanent disability, and death.  Not only does a child experience physical damages, but they often suffer emotionally as well.  Why?  Well, children (and they should) depend on adults for safety and security, acceptance and guidance.  When they are hurt or neglected by adults, their world seem uncertian and frightening.

THE EXODUS LEAGUE CHILD SAFETY COUNCIL NEEDS YOU TO HELP US ACHIEVE OUR GOALS.

PLEASE HELP BY DONATING TO OUR CAUSE!

THE GOOD NEW & BAD NEWS OF CHILD ABUSE   Believe it or not, there is good news and there is bad news about child abuse. The bad news is that child abuse hurts everyone.  Its impact can last a long, long time.  The physical and emotional harm can be debilitating.  There is no known way to measure the cost of the lives that are ruined and broken.  The good news is that you can do something to prevent child abuse, before it happens. YOU can limit the damage suffered by children, their families and the people who love them.
  1. Become familiar with the causes and effects of child abuse.
  2. Learn to identify warning signs.
  3. Report any known or suspected cases.

MILLIONS OF CHILD ABUSE SITUATIONS ARE REPORTED YEARLY and many more cases are unreported.

Child abuse is a problem that concerns EVERYONE!
